One day course

Target audience

This training day is for OT teams who already have a basic understanding of the VdTMoCA but require further skills and knowledge to apply the theory to practice, to ultimately bring the theory to life. Training can be flexible to ensure your specific learning needs are met.

Key learning outcomes

To refresh your knowledge of the VdT Model of Creative Ability.

To understand the treatment priorities for the level of Tone and further in-depth understanding of the treatment priorities for the levels of Self-differentiation, Self-presentation, and Passive Participation.

To apply the treatment principles through practical activities and exercises for the levels of Self-differentiation, Self-presentation, and Passive Participation. (Van der Reyden et al, 2019)

To gain knowledge of how to clinically justify your practice and communicate to the wider team through understanding why you are focusing on specific treatment priorities and why you are using the stipulated treatment principles for the specified levels of creative ability.

Price for one day training: £360, plus travel expenses.


Two day course

Target audience

This training package consists of two full days and is aimed at OT teams who already have a basic understanding of the VdTMoCA but wish to gain a deeper understanding of how to apply the theory to practice. It is an extension of the one day course providing more detailed information with additional time to practice applying the treatment principles and time for you to reflect upon current practice and plan for future development needs. Training can be flexible to ensure your specific learning needs are met.

Key learning outcomes

Day 1

To refresh your knowledge of the VdT Model of Creative Ability.

To understand the treatment priorities for the level of Tone and further in-depth understanding of the treatment priorities for the levels of Self-differentiation and Self-presentation.

To apply the treatment principles through practical activities and exercises for the level of Self-differentiation.

Day 2

To apply the treatment principles through practical activities and exercises for the level of Self presentation.

To understand the treatment priorities for the level of Passive Participation and apply the treatment principles through practical activities and exercises.

To gain knowledge of how to clinically justify your practice and communicate to the wider team through understanding why you are focusing on specific treatment priorities and why you are using the stipulated treatment principles for the specified levels of creative ability.

To reflect upon current practice and plan your future development needs.
